Safety First — Tubs for Seniors

What are the differences between walk-in bathtubs and standard bathtubs?

Drain and overflow inside a walk-in bathtub

A walk-in bathtub has a door and a lower step-over entry than a conventional high-sided bath, usually with a built-in seat. Most require the user to remain inside while the water fills and drains. Standard bathtubs commonly allow a more reclined bathing position, whereas many walk-in tubs are intended for upright seated soaking. Compare access, interior dimensions, water needs and the full installation price. A walk-in model is not automatically suitable for every bathroom or mobility need.
