What safety enhancements do walk-in tubs with emergency release doors offer seniors?

Emergency door arrangements vary by walk-in bathtub. Ask for the manufacturer's exact instructions for draining, power failure and assisted exit before buying. Do not assume a door can be released safely while the tub is full or that every model has a separate emergency release. The installer should demonstrate normal operation and explain what to do if the latch or drain fails.
